Celebrate Armed Forces Day

The Spring 2010 Samboree will be about celebrating Armed Forces day. If you, or any of your chapter members, have children/grandchildren that are in the active military, please invite them to attend the Samboree. If they could perhaps be part of our opening ceremonies on Friday night so we could honor them, it would be great. If they could bring their gear of their specialty and their uniforms to show off on Saturday morning it would be great.

Butcher Bend 4-H Grounds in Mineral Wells, WV
May 14-16, 2010

The 2010 WV Spring Samboree--Will be held at the Butcher Bend 4-H Grounds in Mineral Wells, WV. The Samboree will include entertainment, door prizes, goody bags (one per rig), kids goody bags, raffles, seminars, breakfast, hospitality, games, theme contests, SAMGO, commercial exhibits, flea market, Thursday night potluck dinner, Chinese auction & a campfire (with popcorn) each evening. Please watch our website for special events and forms. Decorate your rig for fun for this Samboree. Bring your WVGS Memorabilia for Jim Wilson! Check out the WVGS Facebook. Bring your armed forces items for display.

DIRECTIONS: I77 to Minerals, exit 170. Take exit to the stoplight and turn onto Rt. 14 south towards Elizabeth. Go 3 miles to Butcher Bend Road. Grounds are 2.4 miles away. Signs will be posted. Out of consideration for our staff, please try & plan your arrival by 6pm each evening. No one will be parked during opening ceremonies on Friday evening from 6pm to 9pm. Butcher Bend has a full service bathhouse.

Limited electric will be available on Wednesday afternoon, May 12. There will be water available for fill-ups. There is no dump station. Dump station is on I77 at Mineral Wells or Williamstown. Emergency phone numbers are 1-304-482-7576/7568 (Wise cell phones); Wood County Sheriff is 911. You must have a fire bucket/fire extinguisher in front of your rig.

$45.00 per rig (2 adults) if post marked by April 30, 2010. 17 & under free—see below. Over 17 $10.00 per additional adult in rig per night.

$55.00 if postmarked after April 30, 2010. $10.00 per day for members without rigs--per day per person. Early birds $10.00 per night per rig. Please do not mail us registration forms May 5, 2010. We spend Samboree week at the Samboree & we are not home to receive applications. Walk-ins must register at registration and pay day fees of $10.00 per person.
